The skincare segment witnessed year-on-year steady growth rates in unique visitors and views in June while there was a decline in views for the makeup segment.
The skincare segment
The skincare segment’s sales surged due to the promotion of the 618 mid-year shopping festival. Beauty services, mainly referring to medical beauty, such as hyaluronic acid needles, thermage, etc., increased by 936.51%. Other segments, including facial essence, eye care, makeup remover, cleansing, toner, and facial masks, all increased by over 50%.
There were three domestic brands, HFP, Winona, and CHANDO, involving in the TOP20 skincare brand list.
In the TOP10 skincare product list, a sunscreen spray from a local brand GOZI was surprisingly picked, while other nine were all from international brands. The data shows that this product went viral on social media in June by participating in more than 400 live streams in the whole month.
The makeup segment
The growth rate of the makeup segment was much lower compared to the growth rate of the skincare segment, but some sub-categories in this segment still showed promising data. Other makeup increased 106.05%, while facial makeup increased 52.03%.
In the TOP20 makeup brand ranking list, Florasis and Perfect Diary were still in the top positions. Other domestic brands, such as Little Ondine, CARSLAN, and Colorkey, were catching up.
Florasis and Perfect Diary had led the competition for three consecutive months. Little Ondine and CARSLAN were also the familiar faces in this list.
Two products from Florasis ranked the first and the second in the TOP10 makeup product list. Compared to May, these sales of these two products increased by 6.22% and 31.08% separately in June. The data shows that there were 270 live streams related to these two products in June on Douyin (Average 9 live streams a day). In the meantime, Florasis also ranked TOP1 in the Tmall 618 facial makeup brand list.
